Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 is on track to achieve record sales, according to Cowen & Company analyst Doug Creutz.
He said in a research note: “Post-holiday sales trends for BO2 have been significantly better than those for last year’s Modern Warfare 3, and we expect BO2 to slightly beat the previous franchise high watermark of the original Black Ops on the PlayStation 3 platform across its life cycle.”
Activision claimed in December that Black Ops 2 grossed $1 billion worldwide in its first 15 days of availability, a milestone reached 24 hours faster than 2011’s Modern Warfare 3.
The shooter went on to be the best-selling game of last year in both the UK and the US
Activision social media manager Dan Amrich said last week that he expects 2013’s entry in the Call of Duty series, which is rumoured to Modern Warfare 4, to be revealed no later than E3 in early June.
